How to read a load card

A load card is the single-line summary you see on the board. Every element on the card is there to help you decide whether to dig deeper or keep scrolling. Cards appear on the Expedite and All Equipment boards. A load card is a single horizontal row. Reading left to right, it shows the score ring, the origin and destination lane, the rate and rate per mile, the equipment code, weight, pickup day, the broker authority badge, the broker or contact name, how long ago it was posted, and two action buttons at the far right.

What every element on a load card means

On the card	What it is	What to do with it
Colored ring, far left, with a number 0–100	The load’s validity rating. Band names: Verified, Solid, Fair, Caution, Unrated. Score inputs: FMCSA broker authority, posting completeness, freshness.	Hover for the exact score. Under 50, vet the broker before you commit. See Load rating explained.
ATLANTA, GA → LAUREL, MS	Origin city and state on the left, destination city and state on the right. The posted lane, not necessarily exact addresses.	Match against your equipment position and available hours.
$900 or Call	The posted line-haul rate. Call means the broker did not post one.	‘Call’ is not a red flag on its own. Plenty of good freight posts blind.
$2.54/mi	Rate per mile, shown when both rate and loaded miles are known.	Your own floor goes here, not ours.
Route miles (e.g. 354 mi)	Loaded miles for the lane, when available.	Used to calculate per-mile rate.
Equipment code (e.g. v, sv, bx, hs)	The equipment type the broker listed, short-coded.	See Equipment types and card shorthand codes.
Weight (e.g. 3,200 lb)	Posted weight in pounds. Missing weight is not disqualifying but lowers the score.	Confirm against your truck’s payload before you call.
Pickup day: Today, Tomorrow, or a date like Jun 12	When the broker wants the truck at the shipper.	Match against your ETA to origin.
Green Active broker authority badge	FMCSA authority is on file and active.	Standard diligence still applies.
Red Unverified badge	FMCSA authority is inactive or missing.	Extra diligence before you haul. Read Broker authority badges.
Gray authority badge	Load Work has not checked yet.	Treat as unknown until it resolves.
Broker or contact name	The broker company or the person who posted. Sometimes a bare phone number.	Click through to the broker profile for history.
Timestamp like 2m ago, 3h ago	How long ago the load was posted.	Fresher postings score higher and are more likely to still be open.
Email icon (envelope), second from right	Opens your default email client with the broker’s address and a subject that usually contains the load ID.	Use for a paper trail.
Call broker button, far right	Dials the broker’s phone number.	Have your MC number, insurance certificate, and truck details ready before you call.

What the card does not tell you

Whether the load is already covered (call to confirm).
Whether the broker will actually pay (check payment history and days-to-pay elsewhere).
Whether your equipment fits every dim, weight, or accessorial requirement (open the detail page).

Load Work is not a broker and does not book freight. Every card is a lead. You contact the broker directly to negotiate and book.
